The first thing to say is that yes, you definitely do need different spring tensions to suit your body weights, soft for your wife and medium for yourself. Super king zip and link mattresses with this particular split are only available in our Artisan range. The mattresses in this range have natural upholstery, the full details of which are provided in the description of each model.

Please view the Artisan Naturals, which is the best seller in the range and the Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected as detailed above. Both these mattresses will provide the same feel in terms of comfort, the difference being that the Naturals has 85% natural upholstery and the 004 has 100%.

Just as a point of reference, for people of average body weights such as yourselves, 1000 pocket springs are sufficient to provide the correct level of support in a king size mattress. Spring counts are usually based upon king size and mattresses with 8000, 12000 and 14000 springs in will contain a row of normal sized spring with additional layers of mini springs. We are not convinced that the layers of mini spring bring anything significant to the comfort of the mattress as they take the place of layers of upholstery.
