Mattress encasement vs mattress protector: what's the difference?
Which goes on top mattress encasement or mattress protector?
What's the difference between the two?
Hi Jocelyn,
Many thanks for your question about mattress encasements.
A mattress encasement zips around the entire mattress. Enveloping the mattress. Most people choose a mattress encasement if they have allergies as it can stop fibres from contacting the skin directly. Making even a natural fibre mattress hypoallergenic. You can read more on mattress allergies here.
The mattress encasement always goes on first before any mattress protectors or toppers.
The mattress protector goes on last so this can be removed and washed regularly. We always recommend that all mattresses use a mattress protector as it helps protect the mattress and extend the longevity of your bed. Mattress protectors stop sweat, debris and dead skin from damaging the mattress. You should wash these mattress protectors at least monthly and replace them if they become worn out or discoloured.
We hope that helps and gives you further mattress buying guidance. If you have any more mattress related questions please get back in touch on info@localhost or 0161 437 4419.
Sleep well!
