A customer asked

Hi
I currently have a 2200 pocketed spring mattress, medium firm, however I suffer with back pain, stiff neck and sore hips every morning. I am 5'5 and weigh 7 Stone 7 pounds. My partner is 6'2 and weighs around 13 stone. He also wakes up with a sore back and neck pain. He sleeps on his front most of the time, however I sleep mainly on my side and back. We both get very hot at night time. Can you please suggest a suitable mattress for us. I wouldn't want to spend more than 1.5K. I am starting to think as I am very light in weight this mattress is maybe too firm for me and is not giving me the correct support. However, would a softer mattress be unsuitable for my 13st partner? Any advice would be appreciated.

Hi Julie,

With the weight differential it is clear that you need a split tension mattress and in that regard, your specific body weights dictate a soft (for you) medium (your partner) split.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

The fact that you have a medium-firm split at present is likely to be the reason you are both experiencing back and neck issues. Split tension, one piece mattresses are available in our Artisan range, which contains natural upholstery layers.

I hope this helps.

Kind regards Mike.
