Mattress Type after trying an Eve mattress

We have a slatted double bed, I weigh 9 stone and partner 12.5 stone have previously had a Sealy Posturepedic which I never found particularly comfortable and it gradually decreased in comfort over the years until could take it no longer.

Have since tried several within a wide range and find that all are comfortable in the short term and after a few weeks become less so. Most recently we have tried the Eve mattress which we both found particularly bad. I wonder if you could make a recommendation.

Price is not an issue for comfort as am starting to believe it may be me that's the problem! Can you help us find the right mattress type?

Hi Carolyn,

Many thanks for your question and sorry to hear you're having issues with both the Sealy mattress and the Eve. For that reason, We've removed any recommendation for either super firm mattresses (like Sealy) or foam-based mattresses such as the Eve. It can be really tricky knowing how to choose a mattress without tailored advice.

I do note that your previous mattress was a pocket sprung mattress, and based upon your body weights, I would suggest that if going down the same route, you ought to look at a split tension mattress, soft for you and medium for your partner.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Your sleeping habits/personal preference will then determine how you would like the mattress to feel in the comfort layers. This is where you will achieve the feel you are looking for (soft/medium/firm).

The comfort layers are the upholstery that sit on top of the spring unit. Here are two recommendations to get you started.

I hope that helps and if you have any further questions please get back in touch on 0161 437 4419 or info@localhost.
