Hi John or Ryan, Great site, most impressed, wish I had found it years ago. Helen and I currently sleep on a Harrison Lexington6000 bed (base and Mattress) which cost £1399 plus £299 for the headboard. Size is 150 across by 200 long (just copied that from my receipt). It is 7 years old come August and it is knackered on my wife's side. She doesn't keep well and spends a lot of time in bed with the result that her side has gone "flat" and she has actually rolled out of bed on 2 occasions. We now have a rail on her side to prevent this. She is about 15 stone and I am about 12 stone (old money..sorry!). My intention would be to retain the present base...I think it should be ok (any comment?)......it has 4 drawers and is very handy bedding storage. We turn the mattress as recommended; my son came and helped this evening 'cos it is too much for me on my own now. Helen has a very bad back (had injections) and I have had both hips replaced and waken with a sore back every morning these days. The bed is King size. Previous to that we had a Vi Spring double which is now in a guest room. As I recall we were happy with the Vi Spring but still got sore backs. So we invested in an Adjustamatic (firm) which we never liked and ultimately gave it away (our granddaughter thinks it's great!) I've actually emailed Harrison about the disappointing quality of their bed (don't think 7 years is a great lifespan); no response by the way! Anyway, I'm in the market for a good quality mattress and I would very much welcome your advice. I nearly today invested in an Elite Vi Spring at Furniture Village (special offer..£434 off for Easter) but after some googling decided to stay my hand and see what you guys can do for us. I would be very happy to discuss by phone but thought it best to provide this info in advance. I look forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Dave O'Brien

Hi Dave,

Thank you for your enquiry and the compliments in respect of the content of our site. The first thing to say is that with your particular body weights, you ought to be looking for a medium spring tension/feel mattress. While we understand that your current mattress is no longer performing for you, the fact that your wife has had to spend long periods in bed will have had an effect on the longevity, although we would have expected it to last longer.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Our Artisan range of mattresses contain some models which are comparable to some Vi-Spring models in terms of overall feel and are as good quality but less expensive. Please view the Artisan Naturals, Artisan Bespoke 004 and Artisan Bespoke, all of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and regarding the weight of the mattress can be made in a zip and link set in king size and above. All contain natural upholstery with the Naturals and 004 providing the same overall feel and the Bespoke being slightly firmer due to having more upholstery in it. The Naturals has 85% natural upholstery whereas the 004 and Bespoke have 100%. Our standard king size mattresses are 152cm x 198cm and it may be prudent for you to measure your existing base before placing an order. The Artisan Naturals is the best selling product in that range as detailed at the foot of this response.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.

Kind Regards.
