Origin 1500 but which firmness?
I'm moving into a new house and need to buy a king size bed. My boyfriend is 6ft3 and I'm 5ft3, he weighs 97kg and I weigh 67kg. What tension would you recommend? We are hot sleepers and I hate memory foam because of it. We generally sleep on our side or back, but I tend to move around a lot to get comfortable. Your help is much appreciated!
Hi Lily,
Thank you for your question. Memory foam is very heat-retentive. It requires body heat as well as pressure to be able to mould to you, but the heat does not dissipate and is retained within the mattress. This is fed back to the sleeper, making them overheat.
The comfort layers determine how the mattress feels and the Origins Pocket 1500 mattress has a medium level of comfort in the upholstery layers that is suitable for all sleep positions. This mattress has a layer of wool blended with a nominal amount of silk that gives the top layer beneath the ticking a soft cushion for your shoulders and hips when sleeping on your side, but it has supportive layers underneath, which means you won't sink in too much when sleeping on your back. Wool wicks away heat and moisture quicker than any other fibre. Natural fibres provide a cooler sleep surface and help with temperature regulation.
| Bodyweight | Spring tension |
|---|---|
| Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
| 16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
| Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
At your heights and body weights, the medium spring tension will provide you both with the correct level of support. This will allow your body to find its own level and not be forced into an unnatural position.
I hope this helps and if you would like any further information, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
