Purchase Mattress
Looking for advice on which tension mattresses to choose in a bespoke zip and link. I need new mattress for myself and my husband. He is 6' 5" and weighs 20 stone. I am 5'2" and weigh 11 stone. He has lower back problems. Currently sleeping on very firm John Lewis Orthopaedic mattress. My back kills! Recently slept on memory foam. I was comfortable but...husband's back killed! Thinking about zip and link bespoke.
Hi Sarah,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The initial consideration when advising upon the right mattress would be the body weights of the people intending to use it. In your particular case, your body weights dictate that you should go for a split spring tension, firm for your husband and medium for you. Such products are only available in our Artisan range (natural upholstery), in a one piece or zip and link in king size and above. The reason for you back hurting is probably because the orthopaedic mattress you currently have is too firm for you. Most mattresses with the words ortho or orthopaedic in the name usually are firm, which is ok for your husband but not you.
We are not sure whether your reference to a bespoke is reflective of the split tension or you had viewed the details of our Artisan Bespoke, which can have the spring tension selected to suit and has the most natural upholstery in that range, providing a firmer feel, irrespective of the spring tension. If the reference to bespoke is in respect of the need for split tensions, we would suggest viewing the Artisan Naturals and Artisan Bespoke 004, both of which can have the spring tension selected to suit and both of which will provide an overall medium feel in the upholstery. The Naturals has 85% natural upholstery and the 004 has 100%.
Again we are unsure as to whether your reference to a zip and link is made because of the split tension, but as advised above all the Artisan range can be made with the split tension you require in a one piece in king size and above. Zip and link mattresses are primarily opted for where access to the bedroom is an issue or where the weight of the mattress when turning or rotating can be difficult.
We trust that the above is of assistance to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisors.
Kind regards.
