We have been looking but unable to find a suitable mattress for some time. My husband is 5 ft 8 and 11 stone. He has long-term back problems (prolapsed discs 4th and 5th lumbar).
He has not been happy with any bed except his ancient Sealey Posturepedic on a platform base (which is well past its sell-by date). I find this bed far too soft (possibly due to were and tear: the bed's not mine!)
I am 5ft 5 and 11 stone. My best nights sleep are in a Hypnos Victoria on a solid slatted base, although I do occasionally wake with neck pain. My husband finds this bed too firm and always wakes with back pain. Neither of us has been happy in a memory foam bed.
We are both side sleepers.
The only bed that we both find comfortable is the Premier Inn Hypnos bed.
We have been into a local furniture store to check out the Hypnos bed range, and the sales advisor recommended Somnus. After trying the Somnus range of beds, my husband felt the Somnus Marquis 14,000 (Regular on a sprung divan base) may be a possibility.
We have read your info about the Hypnos/ Premier Inn bed, and this led us to consider the Origins 1500, although based on our experience (and advice) today we are inclined to go for a sprung rather than platform base.
A friend has recently bought the Artisan Natural, which she loves. We are therefore wondering if this would be a more suitable option for us than the Origins, maybe even with different spring tensions (firm for me and medium for my husband)
We would welcome your advice on which beds you think may be suitable for us, and if there are any equivalents we could visit a showroom to try
