Recommendation for mattress for side sleepers

My husband and I are currently sleeping on a Mammoth Performance 240 mattress but would like to go back to a traditional mattress.
I am 5' 6" and 10 stone and my husband 5' 7" and 11 stone 3 pounds.
I am suffering from neck, shoulder arm and hip pain so clearly a new mattress required. Although we have a sprung divan base my husband put some hardboard under the mattress to stiffen his side. Can you recommend what we should go for given we both seem to get very hot. Thanks

Good Morning Fiona,

Thanks for your question.

Moving back to a traditional pocket sprung mattress you would be best looking within our Artisan range; These are traditional pocket sprung mattresses constructed with natural fillings that provide a cool sleep surface. This range would be ideal for you given that you mention the heat issues.

At your body weights you are both matched with a Medium spring tension to get the right level of support;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Side sleepers need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers as this will simply serve to cause pressure point pains in places such as hips, shoulders and knees. As such you would be better with something more medium overall that provides a slight sink into that top layer but not too much.

As such I would guide you to our Artisan Naturals or Bespoke 004; Both are true mediums with the only difference being the percentage of natural fillings. The Naturals has 85% natural fillings as opposed to a full 100% natural fillings in the Bespoke 004.

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419. We are open Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday and Sunday 10am to 4pm.

Kind Regards, Lee.
