Sleepeeze Ortho Plush
I am looking at the Sleepeeze Ortho Plush in Harvey Norman. It seems comfortable and soft which is what we're looking for as side sleepers with back problems which get worse on a firm mattress. Our previous mattress had a pillow top but is old and past it. We tried a deep memory foam topped one but didn't like the sinking in feeling.
The Sleepeeze has some memory foam but it doesn't seem like you're sinking like some others.
What is your opinion in it?
Hi Michelle,
Thank you for your enquiry. I have had a look at the Sleepeeze Ortho Plush Mattress. This mattress consists of 1200 springs/" title="pocket spring">pocket spring (in a king size) and 20mm of Visco foam (memory foam).
The support of this mattress is described as 'Orthopaedic design for optimum spinal alignment'. Orthopaedic support is usually an extra firm spring tension. The advice used to be that if you had back problems then you needed a firm mattress, this is no longer the case. Unless your body weights are over 22 stone you would not weigh enough to compress the springs meaning you would not get any support except from the comfort layers. The correct spring tension is based solely on your body weight, please see the table below, to give you the correct level of support. This would allow your body to find it's own level throughout the night and not be forced into an unnatural position.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
The upholstery of this one-sided mattress is 2 cm of memory foam, density not given. We do not recommend either memory foam or one-sided mattresses. The first as it is very heat retentive and feeds this heat back to the sleeper and the second because you can not prolong the life of the mattress with regular maintenance. The only exception to this is if the comfort layer is Latex as this is a more durable and responsive material and isn't as heat retentive as memory foam.
As side sleepers, we would recommend soft or medium upholstery layers as anything too firm can cause pressure pains in your shoulders, hips and knees. For soft sink in upholstery have a look at our Origins Comfort 1000 from our man-made fibre range or the Artisan Luxury from our natural fibre range. Alternatively, our two most popular models the Origins Pocket 1500 and the Artisan Naturals have medium upholstery, a slight sink but not too much, which if you add a mattress topper will replicate the feel of a Pillow top mattress but as both are two-sided mattresses you can prolong the life with regular turning and when the fibres in the mattress topper have compress beyond comfort, you can then just replace the topper instead of the whole mattress.
I hope this is helpful and if you would like any further information or would like to discuss your individual needs please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.
Kind Regards
Michaela
