I am interested in the split mattresses. We currently have a divan so not sure if we would need a new Base, the bed is at least 10 years old pocket sprung, we roll together and I suffer lower back pain. My husband is at least 25 stone and tall and I am 15 and tall, is pocket sprung the best thing to go for, memory foam concerns me as to how long it would last. Some expert advice would be appreciated,

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your question.

Split spring tensions are becoming more popular, and in your case a medium/firm split is the most appropriate. Please view the Artisan Bespoke, which can be made with a split tension in a one piece or zip and link set in king size and above. Please bear in mind that with natural upholstery, even with a firm spring tension, settlement is likely to occur. You will only need to replace your base if you feel that it no longer provides support for the mattress and yourselves.

I do not know of any way in which you could obtain a split tension in a memory foam product as they tend to come in standard densities and thicknesses. I trust this is of help to you, but if you require any further advice, please call our office. 0161 437 4419
