Super King Latex options vs Tempur Celebrity

Hi guys. I already have a super king top-of-the-range Tempur - the one above the current top - made up until a few years ago, but dropped by them as was too expensive. It has a fast reacting top layer and a big slab underneath. We have a second super king bed coming and want a mattress like this - or better. I'd prefer to look at alternatives to Tempur. We like the pressure relieving types, and I'm interested in the cooler properties claimed for latex. We both like firm overall, but with the softer top and weigh 11 (her) and 14 (me) stones. What can you recommend and why? I'm happy to pay for latex over memory foam. Just one other query - you say latex can be turned, but higher mattresses in your range appears to have a topper, suggesting that they cannot.

Hi Chris,

Thank you for your question.

Many people are moving away from memory foam and opting for either a Hybrid foam or latex product.

The main reasons for this are the heat retention and lack of speed in return to shape particularly when changing position during the night when it can feel like you are climbing out of a hole.

Please read the comparison article here, which provides you with some additional information and comparisons.

From what you have said, we would not suggest that a latex product would provide a similar feel to what you already have and have experienced with the Tempur product.

Your body weights would tend to suggest a medium feel, but we note that that you indicate that you both prefer a firmer feel and so would guide you towards the Hybrid 5, which will provide that feel for you and is similar in feel to the Tempur Sensation.

The core mattress is one sided and comes with a topper for that extra layer of comfort, that is fully turnable and being double sided will have greater longevity to a one sided product.

The addition of a topper to the Hybrid and Latex ranges is there for comfort and also acts as a protector for the core mattress, again adding to it's overall longevity.

Please view this article regarding toppers, which gives further clarity to their inclusion in our ranges.

We trust that the above helps, but if you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to call our office.

Kind Regards Gary
