Hi what is the difference between turnable and 2 sided mattress. interested in Origins Pocket 1500 which is 2 sided. Does this mean that it can be totally flipped (turnable) or does 2 sided mean something else? Thanks

Hi Sandra,

Thanks for your question.

The terms used in describing mattresses can be incredibly confusing and baffling!

A turnable and two-sided mattress is the same thing. It means there are two sides you can use. We have written a detailed article on the no turn mattress scam that can be found here. You should always look for a two-sided mattress where possible.

Some foam mattresses can only ever be made as a one-sided mattress, but with foam mattresses, you should look for one with a removable topper that you can turn and rotate. All natural pocket sprung mattresses should be two sided, walk away if not.

Our Origins 1500 is two-sided and can be turned over fully and rotated, which we recommend you do monthly to ensure even wear out of your mattress. We'd always advise as part of our care and maintenance guidelines that you flip the mattress over once a month in the first year to combat natural settlement and evenly distribute any wear and tear across both sides of the mattress.

The Origins Pocket 1500 is very much a true medium feeling model in the top layer providing that slight sink in sensation into that top layer but not too much. We would need to discuss body weights in order to determine spring tension;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

I hope this has answered your questions fully but if you do have any other questions please don't hesitate to get in touch on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
