Thanks for getting in touch and great choice with the Artisan Latex - it's our best selling Vegan mattress model - and for good reason! Before that let's provide some help with the correct spring tension for you both.

Spring tensions are based on your body weight and are made specifically for this weight range. A lot of people choose the incorrect spring tensions - thinking incorrectly its the same as the mattress feel or comfort (which is provided by the upholstery above the spring instead).

At your weight, you're on a 1.4 medium gauge spring. Your partner is on the cusp of a 1.4 medium or a 1.6 firm spring gauge. This is where his height will also be important. If he is 5ft 7 and above a medium spring will still be fine if he is smaller than a firmer spring maybe required. Usually though at 16.5 stone a medium spring is still the better option. You may want to get back in touch with his height just to confirm.

Should I buy a zip & link bed?:

Zip & links are incredibly versatile, especially in larger sized mattresses. It means turning them is far easier and if you ever need to separate the bed for two units you can do so.

It also means that moving the bed is far easier for properties with restricted access. A one-piece superking in the Artisan range has very little 'twist' in it. Due to the incredibly high natural filing content. They are not like cheaper foam mattresses that can be crushed or twisted through stairwells. Something to bear in mind.
