Dear John and Ryan, I have recently moved to a tiny cottage with twisty/narrow/encased stairs that have proved impossible to get my current kingsize divan base up. I've been sleeping on an Airbed for a month while researching the options!

The previous owners had a flat pack iron/slats bed, but I really want the support of a divan, and the useful under-bed drawers as space is at a premium. Do you, by any chance, offer divan bases constructed in quarters, rather than halves?

If you do, can you also do drawers in them?

I contacted Vispring who say they do offer this, and I can request it as an option at any of their retailers, so I know it's possible somewhere ... I just shudder to think what their price would be!

Why don't more bed companies offer this as a standard option?

It seems to me to be such a good idea for the UK market, full of space-starved flats in listed buildings 5 flights up, attic conversions, miniscule new-builds, and quirky old cottages!!!

I'm also looking at getting a zip-and-link mattress from you, in order to get it upstairs without overly bending it. If you don't offer quarters divans, would you recommend putting your zip-and-link Artisan mattresses on a sprung-slatted base, which is probably my only alternative?

I'd like to invest in a luxury mattress but don't want to 'over spec' if a slatted base is going to take away the luxury feel/support/longevity the extra pounds would buy. Which would be the best comfort-for-money mattress to pair with sprung slats?

(I'm 10stone7lbs, 5'9", and would probably go for a 'medium' support, having read your advice). >
