Vi-Spring divan base
Do we need to replace our base after 8 years of use as advised? our herald supreme mattress does needs replacing and were told it is because it is a soft /firm zip and link so has worn quicker than expected. We have tried and liked the 'and so to bed' bevedere medium mattress or the John Lewis natural silk 14000 zip and link firm/medium. What do you advise?
Hi Karen,
Many thanks for your enquiry. If your base is in good order and not falling apart, there is no reason to replace it at the same time as your mattress. We know that some stores and manufacturers will suggest that you should replace them at the same time, but this is merely to increase the overall sale value, for commission purposes.
It is not possible for us to advise on the suitability of the two products you refer to for a number of reasons, the first being that the published details of the construction and upholstery in terms of GSM (grams per square metre) of those products is very limited. Secondly, you have not provided any details of your body weight(s) or preferred feel, which are the primary considerations when providing advice as to the most suitable mattress. Your body weight(s) have a direct effect upon what spring tension we recommend and your preferred feel enables us to advise on the most appropriate upholstery.
Judging by the fact that you are looking at the John Lewis Natural Collection, we assume you would prefer a mattress with natural upholstery and as such we would direct you to the products in our Artisan range and in particular the Artisan Naturals (our best seller in the range), Artisan Bespoke 004 or Artisan Bespoke.
Once you have had the opportunity to view these products, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 to obtain specific advice as to the suitability of one of these products for you. Kind regards.
