You've asked a very interesting question so let me try and explain.  The Origins Pocket Latex 1500 is a firmer mattress with the Talalay latex comfort layers.  As you may be aware natural latex is an extremely soft product and the inclusion of a well blended synthetic latex gives the finished product a more adaptive overall feel i.e. Not too firm and not too soft.  The Latex we use in this product is a 60/40 blend with FR applied and therefore retains the white colour and natural texture.  This with the medium springs/" title="pocket spring">pocket spring tension gives a firmer over all feel.  It therefore gives you some pressure relief but with a firmer support ideal for those of a heavier weight or wanting a firmer support but with some pressure relief.  At your body weight, you would find this mattress feels medium to firm and your husband would find it feels medium at his body weight.

 

 

The Origins Pocket 1500 is a medium tension mattress with a softer wool top layer among primarily synthetic components making it one of the best mattresses you can get for budget and its kind.  It also accounts for the lower price point compared to the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 using Talalay, one of the most expensive latex kinds.  The Origins Pocket 1500 is also a traditional two sided mattress meaning you can turn it unlike the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 which by its very nature is only one sided.  If you added a Latex 5 cm mattress topper to either mattress it would soften it giving a deeper comfort layer, although you may find you do not need one.  Try a new mattress for a few weeks first to get a true feel for the mattress before adding a mattress topper.  The origins 1500 is probably better suited to your weights if you want a medium mattress with a softer comfort layer, adding the latex topper would take the bed to the next level for progressive comfort by adding a high quality natural layer to the mattress, if this is the route you want to take.
