Hi. We're after a king size mattress. My husband is 5ft 9 and 80kg I'm 5ft 6 and 60kg. I sleep on my back, my husband his side. We currently have a 1300 pocket sprung by Vi-Spring. What would you recommend?

Hi Katherine,

Thank you for your enquiry.  With the body weights you have supplied we would pair you both with a medium spring tension to give you both the correct level of support.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Finding upholstery layers that suit different sleeping positions can be quiet difficult sometimes, and if comfort preferences differ then a compromise has to be made.  We would not recommend anything too firm for side sleepers as this can cause pressure pains in the shoulders, hips and knees whereas anything too soft is not supportive enough for anyone sleeping on their back.  In our Origins range I would recommend having a look at our Origins Pocket 1500 which has a medium spring tension as standard and with medium comfort layers are both supportive and forgiving.  In our Artisan range, I would recommend looking at either the Artisan Naturals or the Artisan Bespoke 004, both of these have medium comfort layers and can have the spring tension selected to suit your bodyweight.

I hope this is helpful and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
