Hi John an Ryan!

I have been going out of my mind trying to find the perfect bed. I suffer from chronic pain, i have fibromyalgia which had a massive impact on my daily life. I've been sleeping on a firm miracoil silentnight mattress and slatted wooden base, probably the worst i could!

Through research i have discovered that i need a soft/gentle mattress with latex. I prefer soft, i weigh only 55kg and im 170cm. I've also been told a pocket sprung between 1000-2500 springs would be good (with the latex) What im not sure of is whether a spring free latex/foam mattress is a better option than this?

I have been looking at the Silentnight Barcelona, Sealy Alvaston, Zen rejuvinate and Dunlopillo Cocoon 5. I've been looking at beds up to £1500 inc divan with 4 drawers. Also, should i consider milbrook, vogue and do i need a sprung edge base?

Please help, even if it could lessen my pain by 20% i would be so happy!

:-) .

Hi Fiona.

It is your weight that I would seriously bear in mind regarding your purchase.

In the majority of cases support and comfort should go hand in hand.

For you, support becomes secondary, and it is the comfort level (upholstery) that becomes the important factor - particularly when you take your fibromyalgia into consideration.

As a first option, I would say that our Origins Comfort (I know it's the cheapest) would be ideal for your weight.

However, with fibromyalgia I 'think' the deep tufting (and obvious uneven surface) on this mattress may cause you to experience some undue pressure.

To combat this, and to obviously give the cloud like feel you need, I would invest the money you save on a very soft (decent) topper - Down and feather for example.

Alternatively, out of all the mattresses you mention above, the Dunlopillo Cocoon would be worthy of a second look and trial.

Normally, I would say that our Origins Pocket Latex is a far better buy, but in your case you do not need the depth of latex we have in our model - a lesser built mattress (despite it costing you more) may be more suitable for your requirements.

Kind Regards Gary
