Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  Although you have not provided your weight and preferred 'feel' details, it does seem that the best option would be a split tension mattress, providing the appropriate feel for you both.  All of the mattresses in our Artisan range can be made in split tension, either soft/medium or medium/firm in king size and above.

16 Stone / 101kg Upwards	Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)	Soft (1.2mm)

 

If you require soft/firm, this would need to be made in a zip and link set of mattresses as a one-piece mattress cannot be made with such differing tensions.  Zip and Link’s are ideal when there is a weight difference and one spring tension will not cover both sleeping partners, where access into the room of your choice is restricted and where one user tends to disturb the other.

 

the advice used to be that a firmer mattress was best for any back problems but that is not the case, in fact, we would always advise to steer clear of any mattress that is too firm in it’s comfort layers as it will only make those pains worse.
