A customer asked

Hello I am looking for a new super king size mattress as the one I have is giving me lower back ache after sleeping in it for a couple of hours, it is around 10 years old and a pocket spring with a memory foam top layer.

I am a large lady of approx.

22 stone and 5ft 3" and wondered if you could advise me on the best type of mattress to go for.

I try and get around 7-8 hours a night sleep Many thanks Marianne

Hi Marianne,

Thank you for your question.

We have a new range of mattresses specially made for sleepers that are 18 stone (114kg)  plus.  This is because the majority of mattresses are made with a individual weight limit of 18 stone.

Given you're waking up with lower back ache it maybe that the memory foam layer and support unit is too soft for you meaning you're sinking further than you need to, and this leads to uncomfortable positions.

Our new Resilience 1 mattress features a medium support unit which is double sided and a 7.5cm laygel hybrid foam layer.  This is a soft but responsive layer that springs back to its original position when you need to move, unlike memory foam which is hot and very slow to react.

Resilience 1 heavy sleeper mattress

Please have a look and if you require any further advice or information, please telephone our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind regards Julie
