Which mattress for similar weights?
We are both 5 ft 8 in and similar weights. Most important are no roll together and not too warm. Also like to sleep on side and soft feel whilst still supportive. Have got slatted base.
Hi Jackie,
Thank you for your enquiry.
The most important consideration when advising on a new mattress is the body weights of the people who are going to use it. This is because this dictates the spring tension required and is fundamental to providing the correct level of support. Having said that, because you are side sleepers, you will require softer upholstery layers to be combined with the spring tension.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Please view the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a standard medium tension spring unit together with soft upholstery layers, ideal for side sleepers. Alternatively, if your budget permits, please view the Artisan Luxury, which can have the spring tension selected to suit and has soft natural upholstery, again ideal for side sleepers.
If you are using a slatted base, we would advocate placing some form of barrier, usually thin (3-5mm) MDF over the base to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent ridging occurring as a result of the mattress dipping into the gaps between the slats.
We would suggest calling our office on 0161 437 4419 to provide your weight details to one of our advisors to receive more specific advice as to the suitability of one of our products.
Kind Regards.
