Hi there,

My partner (95kg) and I (50kg), both really liked the Therapur actigel 2600 mattress...I also liked the Sleepeeze Matilda. We're moving from a very old 'Carnaby Latex'. Any suggestions on what would be good for us?

Thanks :)

Hi Annie,

Thank you for your question. It can be very difficult choosing your next mattress and there are a lot of things to consider such as support which is dictated by your height and body weight, the medium spring tension will provide you both with the correct level of support. The level of comfort you require should be based on how you sleep and your comfort preferences.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

The Therapur ActiGel 2600 mattress at Dreams is described as having a firm comfort grade which could be a high-density memory foam or a firm spring tension as there is no description given for the level of support this mattress provides. The Sleepeezee Matilda mattress is described as a medium comfort grade but again there is no information given regarding the density of the memory foam or the spring tension.

Memory foam requires both body heat and pressure to be able to mould to you. ActiGel is a gel-infused memory foam that while cooler than standard memory foam will still retain some body heat. Latex only requires pressure to be able to mould to you. This means that in both cases, whether memory foam or latex, the lighter your body weight the less pressure is applied and the firmer the mattress will feel. If you are a side sleeper, the firmer Therapur ActiGel 2600 could cause pressure pains in your shoulders and hips. If you are a front or back sleeper both the medium Sleepeeze Matilda and the Therapur Actigel 2600 would be suitable. Without knowing the density of your current mattress it would be difficult to say which would be the most comfortable for you.

We have found that customers who are used to the flat sleep surface of latex and memory foam mattresses can sometimes have difficulty adjusting to the tufted areas of a traditional mattress. As you are used to the flat sleep surface of latex I would not recommend a traditional tufted mattress from our range. I would recommend the Origins Pocket Latex 1500 which has a medium spring tension as standard. The two layers of Talalay latex provide a medium to firm level of comfort depending on your body weight. For you, it will have a firm level of comfort at your very light body weight and a medium level of comfort for your partner.

I hope this helps and if you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela

Can you please email me with the height of the Therapy AntiGel 2600 mattress ?
I know it is 200 x 90 but need the height.

Hi Alan,

Thank you for your comment. Looking at Dreams they seem to no longer retail the TheraPur Actigel 2600. They do have a TheraPur Actigel 2800 which contains 2600 springs. The depth of this mattress states 12 inches.

I hope this assists,

Kind Regards
Michaela
