This is a one-sided mattress, primarily for sleepers who are sensitive to tufts. Whilst we don’t usually advocate one-sided mattresses, especially when retailers are selling them for high-end prices, the construction method of this model shows how to do it. Using high-grade Talalay Latex which is both highly responsive and resilient, it overcomes the usual issues experienced with synthetic one-sided mattresses.
First Layer: One inch HD Foam: directly on top of the spring unit (as the insulator). This is a more forgiving component which moves with the spring unit.
Second Layer: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex:
Third Layer: 3cm White Talalay 60/40 Latex: Having two layers of latex is fundamentally better than using one layer of 6cm depth.
Fourth Layer: 300 gsm Wool Silk blend pad: directly beneath the fabric which gives a slight cushion on top of the latex.
The surface is micro-quilted with a soft knit fabric providing a flat and comfortable sleep surface. Giving the top side a soft feel. The mattress features machine-stitched handles and is also detailed with three rows of machine side stitching.

As Natural latex is an extremely soft product the inclusion of a well-blended synthetic latex gives the finished product a more adaptive overall feel i.e. Not too firm and not too soft.
The Latex we use in this product is a 60/40 blend with FR applied and, therefore, retains the white colour and natural texture.
This, with the pocket spring unit, gives a firmer overall feel.

Our team will be able to guide you to the right product for you and your budget. We grade the products in our warehouse and the grading is decided based on the condition of the product upon return. All mattresses are Grade B or C. At this stage we cannot give you the history of each product or the very specifics of where any marks may be located so if this is important for you to know then a clearance bed may not be for you and you can choose your mattress in the normal way. We do however guarantee that the condition will be no worse than described below and in most cases is actually better!

Shopping for a new mattress online and, never having heard of the bed makers John Ryan by Design Ltd., I was immediately impressed by their website with its copious amount of sound, solid advice on the subject of choosing a mattress and of the technical aspects and materials used in their beds. Furthermore they manufacture their beds in Yorkshire. A plus sign in my reckoning. I phoned them to ask a few questions and place an order and was dealt with by a wonderful lady with a warm, friendly manner who was more than knowledgeable in dealing with my queries. On her advice I ordered two single mattresses which could be zipped together to form a double. A good option for my purposes. My order was made up and delivered within the time they promised. The delivery team were obviously well trained, courteous and efficient. They installed the bed in the room we wanted and took away our old bed. More than satisfied with the whole experience.

I’ve owned this mattress for almost 9 years now (during which it’s endured 4 house moves!), and I still find it heavenly. The only wear on the mattress is some minor fraying of the top layer of fabric. In terms of comfort, I don’t feel as though it has deteriorated at all.
I am currently recommending John Ryan (and potentially this model of mattress) to a friend that has just bought his first house, and when the time does come that I need a new one, I will without doubt be returning here too.

I had very helpful advice from John Ryan before buying my Mattress. The advice was impartial including discussion of some competing brands. Ordering process was very simple and straightforward. Delivery on time and efficiently managed. No complaints at all and the mattress is great and as advertised!

A Long Term Happy Customer
John Ryan by Design Company was first introduced to us by a good friend and his wife who had bought a new mattress from them in early 2012. They said that the helpful advice on choosing the right mattress was excellent and as a result they were enjoying many good comfortable night’s sleeps on it. This was good feedback for us as we had just moved back to the UK from abroad and needed to buy a new mattress as it had been damaged in transit.
We contacted John Ryan’s company, and spoke to John himself, and after some very helpful discussions and his expert advice as to which mattress would best suit our sleeping pattern and body weights, we placed an order for a Super King Zip and Link Origins Pocket Latex 2000 firm mattress. It was delivered in the autumn of 2012 by their delivery agency and carried upstairs to our bedroom.
In 2015 and as a previously satisfied customer, we again contacted John Ryan’s company and after a discussion with John we purchased a new bed base and mattress for our spare bedroom. Some three weeks later it was delivered and the two men from their delivery agency carefully carried it upstairs and installed it in the bedroom.
But now our first John Ryan mattress, which has provided us with over 3,000 nights of good restful and comfortable sleep, is getting a little tired on my side (I’m 6’2” tall and weigh nearly 19 stone) and as we all know nothing lasts forever so we have decided to replace it. There was never any doubt where it was coming from. We contacted the John Ryan company sales team and are placing an order with them for a new mattress of the same size, quality and technical specification as our old one, and are very much looking forward to its speedy arrival in our bedroom.
As a matter of interest our two grown up sons have, during the last couple of years, also bought new beds and mattresses from John Ryan company as they were impressed by our excellent feedback regarding our purchases and their “road testing” of the bed in the spare bedroom on several different occasions. Both said that they too are very satisfied with their purchases, excellent quality, amazingly comfortable and bought at the right price.
So, as a long-time very satisfied customer of the John Ryan company, my wife and I say many thanks to them and their team for providing us with such restful sleeping over the years; and if any of you are thinking of buying a new bed or mattress then John Ryan by Design should be the first and in our opinion the only company on your list. I previously bought a double mattress from John Ryan 3 years ago and it is the best one I have ever had. A few weeks ago I decided to purchase a single one for the spare room and have been very pleased with it. They are great quality and the firm mattress with the latex top has got rid of all my back problems.

This is the second mattress we have purchased from John Ryan, first one lasted over 10 years . Fantastic quality and very comfortable, even delivered at 7.30 in the morning so we did not have to take time off work to take the delivery. Highly recommended.

Ryan and John provide the best beds, at the best prices with the most amazing customer service. The love it or return it guarantee took all the concern about buying a bed online away and they were true to their word! Flexible and patient enough to cope with our changing requirements from zip and links to standard mattresses and from pocket sprung to latex- they have delivered!
I have one Visprung bed and wanted similar quality without the price tag in a second bedroom and the bed they delivered matches it.

Hi, I ordered a zip and link superking latex 1500 on one side and 2000 on the other. I would really recommend ordering from factory beds- I was a bit hesitant at first and had been looking at mattresses on the internet for about 3 weeks!! I’m really glad that I made the order, not only is the mattress great quality but John and Ryan did everything they could to get the mattress to me as quickly as possible- I’m 8 months pregnant and was sleeping on a double mattress on a superking base, which was a nightmare to try and get out of in the middle of the night(!!) and the mattress was delivered to me by them as soon as they could (there was a delay of 2 days from the factory but John and Ryan phoned me each day with an update) and the mattress was still delivered within about 10 days from order- much quicker than anything I could have got from vi-spring or somnus- the 2 other options I was looking at who do superking zip and link with different firmness on each side. John and Ryan delivered the mattress themselves, took it upstairs, put it on the bed base, moved the old one downstairs and tool away all the packaging and advised me on how to keep the mattress (no need to turn etc.) and they were both absolutely lovely and really helpful. Very pleased, is heavenly to have a decent night’s sleep! WOuld recommend them to all and would definitely order from them again. Big thanks to John and Ryan!
