Bed frame
I am awaiting my Origins pocket 1500 to arrive which I ordered from you recently. I am looking for a king size wooden bed frame with sprung slats but one I like has solid slats. Can you advise which would be better, if there is much difference, and whether it will affect the feel of the mattress? I will be putting mdf on top of the slats, should I also put a quilt between that and the mattress?

Thank you for your enquiry on bed frames and slatted mattress bases.
We don’t actually recommend slatted bed frames as they can cause issues with settlement and sagging over time. Especially if the slats on your bed frame are too far apart. However, if you have got one then we do have some advice as to how to rectify it below.
Sprung slatted bases tend to provide a little give compared to solid slats, however, if you are placing MDF over the slats you will end up with a similar feel for both, which will make the mattress feel slightly firmer. We would only recommend the addition of MDF or plywood if the gap between the slats is 3 inches or more. If the gap is less the addition of a barrier layer in the form of a quilt will protect the underside of the mattress, it is a matter for you.
