Mixed use guest bed – double

Thank you for your question. For a guest bed that will be used by many different people, we would recommend the Origins Pocket 1500. This has the medium spring tension as standard and will support a wider range of body weights, up to 16.5 stone. The medium upholstery layers are not too firm for side sleepers nor too soft for those who sleep on their front or back.

As your mum is used to a softer mattress, you could consider the Origins Comfort 1000 which is slightly softer in the comfort layers. However, she is also used to the flat sleep surface of memory foam. We have found that customers who are used to a flat sleep surface of a foam type mattress can sometimes have difficulty adjusting to the tufted areas of a traditional pocket sprung mattress. I would recommend the Origins Pocket 1500 and adding a 100% natural latex soft density mattress topper for additional comfort for your mum.

Whilst memory foam is very heat retentive, natural latex is fully breathable and helps to regulate your body temperature. Latex mattress toppers are available in different densities which give a different level of comfort. I have recommended the soft density given your mum’s light body weight to give her cushioning and a similar feel to the mattress she is used to which helps with her aches and pains.
