TAKE OUR MATTRESS QUIZ

Type of mattress and base

Denise Greenwell asked

Hi I’m looking for a double mattress. For myself. I live alone. Female. 59, 5 foot 7 in..about 13 stone. I have slightly wider than average shoulders. Side sleeper, wake through the night and turn over. I do get hot feet. I do not want a too firm bed, ie lying on top like a board. My current mattress is 7 years old. It is a ‘healthopaedic’ smartness 3000 climate. With air suspension pockets, 3000 coils. memory foam topper with thermoregulation fabric ( cellulose paraffin cells). it is no turn. My current Base has sprung slats.
I was after a bed for spare room, but thought perhaps I could buy new for myself and put existing bed in spare room.
I don’t mind paying extra for comfort. Can you advise please, especially on mattress but also on new Base with drawers.
Many thanks

Hi Denise,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The first consideration when recommending a mattress for you is your body weight, which dictates the spring tension applicable to provide the correct level of support. In your particular case this is medium.

BodyweightSpring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kgMedium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg UpwardsFirm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call)Soft (1.2mm)

The second consideration is a joint one with your preferred feel and any sleep pattern i.e. side sleeper. Side sleepers not only need the support of the correct spring, they also need softer upholstery layers so that the body is in the right position during sleep.

There are two products in our ranges which may suit, the first being the Origins Comfort 1000, which has a standard medium tension spring unit together with soft man made upholstery layers, ideal for side sleepers. This mattress would be paired with a platform topped base and you can select the number of drawers required.

The second product which may suit is the Artisan Luxury, which can have the spring tension selected to suit and has soft layers of natural upholstery, again ideal for side sleepers. The Luxury is the more expensive of the two, but does have a 10 years manufacturers warranty, whereas the Comfort has a 2 year warranty. The Luxury would be paired with a sprung firm edged base, which can also have the number of drawers selected as required.

All our products are covered by our 60 day “love it or return it” guarantee.

We trust that the above is of help to you, but if you require any further advice or guidance, please call our office on 0161 437 4419 and speak with one of our advisers.

Kind Regards Gary
