The Casper Essential mattress is 2 different layers of hybrid foams, a breathable soft top layer and a support base layer.  All mattresses will have natural settlement within the first year. If you sleep in one position then only that area of the mattress softens and the rest will still be like new. This is what causes the potential sagging.

The Casper mattress is a one-sided foam model which means you cant turn this mattress. You can only rotate it. The biggest issue from people with these types of boxed foam mattresses is that settlement can happen at an alarming rate. This is because you're sleeping in the same position every night with no way to even this out like you would with a two-sided mattress that you can turn over. It's the biggest drawback with the likes of Casper, Emma, Eve, Leesa, Made and Otty mattresses - they are all one sided.

If you feel that the mattress has failed, you can ask the retailer for an independent inspection. They will test the mattress to see if the settlement is within the industry's standards for tolerance.

The type of base you have the mattress on can also affect the mattress a slatted base (depending on the space between the slats) may not give the mattress enough support. Checking there is not a fault with the base may help but usually, with these types of boxed mattress it is the foams that have compressed to a point of no return, You can read our guide on how to look after a new mattress here for more tips.
