Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  I have an inkling that you will regret returning your Somnus Countess mattress.  If I understand your comment correctly, I assume you returned it because undoing the zippers caused you problems.  In answer to your question regarding zip and links, both zippers do not need to be fastened - it is a good idea to fasten both zippers if they are used as a one piece mattress for an extended period of time but not essential.

A further point to bear in mind is the turning and rotating scenario that you have concerns with.  We would recommend, after unzipping, flip each mattress from north to south to maintain your individual side.

If you buy a double sided mattress and choose not to turn it, then that is the same as a one-sided non-turn mattress.  However, when the sleeping side becomes worn, turn the mattress and you will have a practically new mattress again.  One sided mattresses do not usually have a vast amount of upholstery on the underside - however, this means that there is virtually no suspension quality [the springs are very close to the bed base].  The extra upholstery on a two-sided mattress will act as a good mattress pad.

All of our Artisan and Origins models are available in a zip and link option in King Size and above.  We would need to know your individual body weights, to determine the correct spring tension to give you the correct support, your preferences in comfort and fibres used in construction, synthetic or natural fibres.
