Problems with Rest Assured mattress

Hi, Looking to buy for parents a king sized mattress Prefer traditional pocket sprung as dad sweats so probably not contemporary foam The main requirement is a continuous sleep, and waking up with no pains. Father suffers from frozen shoulder and mother from stiff neck and shoulder pain due to over worked shoulders. I realise that this is not going to cure the problems but they firmly believe a good mattress with help improve their conditions faster. Both complain about having to switch sides due to pain in shoulders all night, both think it's due to the firm feel of existing double mattress (Rest Assured Visage 2400 with latex layer at top) which is still better than the former double (Sealy Reflex 7000 Mirrorfoam pocket sprung double) which was even firmer feel. Isn't firm better for body aches?
They have now ordered a king sized bed with sprung slated base...can put ply and make it flat if required with the matters you recommend. Father is 58yrs 170cm weight 85kg Mother is 49yrs 165cm weight 75kg Please recommend one lower end around £900 mark and one Upto £1600 . Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your question. It is a misconception that if you have back problems a firm mattress will provide relief from aches and pains. In fact, it is the opposite, what you require is a softer comfort layer with supportive springs underneath. This will allow your parents to sink into the mattress whilst being supported. Their 'firm feel' mattress is definitely too firm for them is may be responsible for some of their aches and pains especially if they are side sleepers, Firm comfort layers cause pressure pains in the shoulders hips and knees.

Given their body weights, they would need a medium tension spring to get the correct support. Incorrect spring tension can cause back and neck pain. I would recommend a mattress from our Artisan range as these are constructed with natural fibres which makes a cooler sleep surface, better for those people who run hot throughout the night.
