Comparison to the Shire Eco Bed Range?

I am currently looking for a double pocket sprung mattress filled with natural materials. My price range is up to £500 and I weigh 10st. I have been looking at the Shire Beds Eco range (I like that fact that this is a UK company) and also Healthbeds but these mattresses seem a little more expensive. I will be putting the mattress on a Laura Ashley bedsted which has sprung slats. I particularly like the look of the Eco Comfy and Eco Cosy mattress from Shire. One has 2000 springs and is medium, and the other 3000, medium to firm. They are also no turn which would be easier for me as I have great difficulty in flipping a mattress over! I have not yet found anywhere I can try the mattresses. Do you think either of these would suit me?! Thanks

I am not able to provide an opinion as to the suitability of the products your have referred to because the published details of the construction and upholstery layers are not specific, particularly in terms of the GSM (grams per square metre) of upholstery.
What I can say is that for your body weight, you ought to be looking for a medium tension mattress. If the slats on your base are more than 6cm apart, you should look to place a barrier, in the form of 3-5mm MDF/peg board sheeting on the slats to provide the mattress with a uniform surface upon which to sit and prevent it ridging as result of dipping into the gaps. If the gap is less than 6cm, an old duvet or blanket will suffice.
