Having children and changing our mattress
My wife is 5 ft 6in and around 10 stone, I am 5ft 8in and 11 stone. She gets back pain sometimes in the lower back area and also has a tendency to sleep in the same position the whole night. We have not had kids as yet but are planning to have two, so are looking for a king size bed and a good mattress. Would you recommend a single product from your range or a combination of a mattress and a topper just for those few months in between?
Hi John,
Your body weights suggest that a medium spring tension mattress is the most appropriate for you.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Without knowledge of your budget it is difficult to recommend products from our ranges.
Having said that, our best sellers are the Origins Pocket 1500 containing synthetic upholstery layers and coming in a standard medium tension and the Artisan Naturals containing 85% natural upholstery layers with calico encased pocket springs and coming in three spring tensions, soft, medium and firm.
As far as a topper is concerned, I would suggest that you sleep and your new mattress for at least 14 days before deciding upon whether one is necessary.

Kind Regards Gary.
