Mattress recommendation
Hi. I'm looking to purchase a good quality mattress (open budget at the moment!) that will accommodate my spinal cord injury. I am 24 yrs post injury and have a metal plate in my neck and weakness on my right dominate side which now causes occasional hip pain if I roll on this side (my preferred sleeping side). Hence keen to change a 'very old' mattress. I am independent in getting myself in and out of bed and I weigh 8st. My bed is a good quality wooden slatted bed. After reading the extremely helpful information on your website I am leaning towards pocket sprung natural fibre mattress but not sure if this is the best or the gsm of the filling?
Hi Raj,
Our Artisan range of products all contain natural upholstery layers, some more than others.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
With your light body weight, I would advise a soft spring tension together with more natural upholstery than the starter products in the Artisan range.
Please view the details of the Artisan Naturals and Artisan Bespoke 004 and then call our office for more specific advice as suitability.
Both these products can be placed on your slatted base, although I would recommend placing some form of barrier between the slats and the mattress to avoid dipping occurring as a result of the mattress depressing into the gaps between the slats.
I trust that this helps.
Kind Regards Gary
