Firmness recommendation

I am 14 stone, my wife is 9 stone. We both like a medium/firm mattress with plenty of support without being too hard. My wife has a hypermobility condition, which means she needs mattresses much more towards the firm scale.
We're moving away from an all memory foam mattress, to a sprung design and most interested in purchasing an Artisan 1500 mattress in Super King size.
What firmness would you recommend for each of us? And is it correct that we can get different tensions on each side of a single mattress?
Thanks for all you do to help us sleep better!

Hi Nat,

With your particular body weights, I would normally recommend a split spring tension, medium for you and soft for your wife, however, I note that you both err towards a firm feel as a preference and so, in this case, would suggest opting for a medium spring tension across the whole mattress. I assume your comment about different tensions on single mattresses refers to a zip and link set, which is two 3ft x 6ft 6in mattresses which zip together to form one super king size mattress and it is possible to have different tensions, although as advised, this may not be necessary in your case.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

The Artisan 1500 in a medium tension would be more than suitable for you both. If you would like some further advice or guidance,

Kind regards.
