I have a mattress and an ordinary (but much loved 4 poster) bed that currently has a base that is totally rigid and looks like pallets. It was fine with our old mattress but have now bought two mattresses (a Hypnos and a mammoth) and neither is comfy. I think having a proper divan type sprung base ( Ie. what we tried the mattresses on) would probably make it more comfy ( it is just really really hard at the moment). Is there anyway you could build a divan base that is just what goes above the drawers to drop into our existing bed?
