Mattress toppers are used primarily to provide an additional comfort layer and in turn make a firm mattress feel slightly softer and so the straight answer to your question is yes. Having said that, it would be wise to check the information provided here with regard to body weight(s) and spring tension, just to satisfy yourself that you have opted for the correct tension in your recently purchased mattress.
