Comparable Mattress to John Lewis Special Buys
We are looking to replace our mattress. We have tried numerous in shops and the best we could find that we both liked was the John Lewis special buy 4000 hempure in firm or the special buy 5000 cotton in medium, what would be your equivalent mattress to these. I weigh just under 10 stone and my partner is about 12.
Hi Debbie
Thanks for your question.
We don't have anything in our ranges that compares directly to the John Lewis mattresses you have tried, as they are one sided, so they can't be turned over, so in effect half a mattress. All the Natural fibre filled mattresses we sell, are fully turnable, i.e. they have the same upholstery on both sides, and by being able to flip the mattress over on a monthly basis, you can double the life of the mattress instantly.
We do have two really detailed articles showing which of our mattresses compare to both John Lewis's own brand of mattress and their Vispring range.
I would say a good model to start at in our range would be the Artisan 1500, this has a med/firm feel in the top upholstery layers and at your body weights the firmest spring you could both have is a medium spring, you are both much too light for a firm tension spring, which needs a starting weight of around 17 st.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
You really need to be able to compare the GSM to know exactly what you're getting (we show exact examples of what you should be looking for on our comparison pages). If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.
