Comparable mattress - Insignia Whinfell / Warren Evans Angelic
Hello John and RyanI have been researching mattresses for the past couple of days now and have found your website to be invaluable in terms of information and it has shown me how poor other retailers are when listing product descriptions, so thank you!Currently we have a Therapur mattress from Dreams that we bought 3.5years ago and we now wake up with shoulder and back pain. We have decided to go for a pocket sprung mattresses and narrowed it down to (before coming across your website):Dreams Insignia Whinfell mattress: http://www.dreams.co.uk/whinfell-4000-mattress.Warren Evans Angelic: https://www.warrenevans.com/mattresses/pocket-sprung-mattresses/angelic-mattress/I have reservations about the Warren Evans one because it's only 23cm thick yet states it has 4 different upholstery layers. The Whinfell is 33cm in height and again consists of 4 different types of upholstery but no exact specifications. What is your comparable mattress? And any comments of the above in comparison to your mattress? My husband and I seemed to have preferred the Firm grade Whinfell (maybe the layers made it comfy for us) - he is 11 stone and I am 7.5 stone - so not the heaviest of people to opt for the firm mattress, however, it seemed fine in the shop. Would you suggest a different grade for our weights?Thank you very much.
Hello Sheenih,
Thank you for your question.
We do not have any mattresses that have a similar feel to either the Dreams Insignia Whinfell or the Warren Evans Angelic.
Most bed manufacturers do not state the full specifications of their mattresses which therefore makes it impossible for us to recommend a comparable model to ours.
As you seem to prefer a firmer mattress, I would recommend having a look at our Origins Pocket Reflex 1000. This mattress is one that we recommend for Guest Houses, Holiday Lets etc as it takes a large range of body weights and is a brilliant all rounder. At your body weights, it would certainly give you the firmer feel you require.
If you would prefer a mattress that has natural fillings, as per the two mattresses you are looking at, we do have our Artisan Range of mattresses which do have natural fillings. The firmest mattress that we make in the Artisan Range is the Artisan Bespoke. This mattress has 5100g of 100% natural fillings and 1600 calico encased pocket springs which is the best spring system that you can have in a mattress. This mattress does have a similar feel to a Vi Spring Herald Superb and it may be preferable for you to go and try this mattress in a store near to you in order to get a feel for the mattress and to ascertain whether the mattress would be as firm as you require.

The mattresses in our Artisan Range all have a similar feel to Vi Spring mattresses and I attach a link which explains the comparable Vi Spring model to the ones in our Artisan Range. It would be beneficial to you to actually try the other models in the Vi Spring range to see if any of them are more suitable for you.
At your body weights, the spring tension advised for any of the mattresses in our Artisan Range would be soft tension for you and medium for your partner but if you would prefer a firmer tension, there is no reason why you cannot have a medium spring tension overall. We would not advise a firm spring tension for either of you as this would not give you any support whatsoever and it would not be worth purchasing a quality mattress which is not going to give you the correct support. With a pocket sprung mattress, your individual bodies need to move with the springs to get that support and with a firm tension you would not be heavy enough to move those springs.
We hope the above is of assistance to you but please do not hesitate to contact the Office for further information /help on 0161 437 4419.
Kind regards Julie
