Thank you for your enquiry on our website.  Due to the fact that Vi-Spring have changed their comfort layers in the last decade, I would recommend you visit a Vi-Spring retailer to try their models that are comparable to some of our Artisan range, which are constructed with natural fibres.
 

 
We wouldn't recommend using a mattress topper for the first few weeks whilst you get a true feel for the mattress as you may not need the extra expense of a topper.  If you find the comfort layers slightly too firm then consider adding a mattress topper.
 
If there is nothing wrong with your current pocket sprung base then there is no need to replace it at the same time as your mattress.
