Which mattress and frame for allergies

Hi, this is a bit of a loaded question. Without boring you with details, I was diagnosed 3 days ago with a severe dust-mite allergy. I haven't gotten a proper nights sleep in over a decade (I'm in my twenties if this helps) :-(
So now I know the reason, everything has to be changed, carpets to laminate, curtains to blinds etc and of course of course the bed. Now, whilst my lack of sleep is definitely not helped by allergies, I also do need a very comfy bed to help me sleep when I do get off as I imagine being uncomfortable also contributes:
1. Do you have any mattresses/frames that you'd consider dust-mite resistant? I think wooden frames are best but I can't tell which ones are when I try to select a bundle. I have been told the mattress is the biggest culprit for my allergies so whilst I can buy covers, I'd prefer a mattress already dust-mite resistant.
2. Which mattress should I go for? Have been considering hybrid mattresses that come in a box from other sites but I'm thinking a 'proper' mattress may be the way to go for me. I'm 5'5, male, 10st and due to my issues fidget and move around the bed a lot. Only position I can't sleep is on my back. Think I'm a side sleep generally but sometimes front. I don't know where to start in terms of firmness etc.
Any help appreciated!

Hi Lee,

Thanks for your question.

At your body weight we would match you with a Medium spring tension to get the correct level of support;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Side sleepers need to avoid anything too firm in the top layers whereas front sleepers need to avoid anything too soft in the top layers. As such, you should be looking at more of a medium feeling model in it's upholstery.

Have a look at our Origins Pocket 1500 or Artisan Naturals. Both have that medium upholstery providing a slight sink but not too much with the main difference being that the Artisan range tend to last longer as standard due to the construction with natural fillings but also provides a cool sleep surface.

Please note that with either of those mattresses you would need to buy a Mattress Encasement from somewhere like Allersafe online. This will help with your allergies

From there you would be better looking at a bedstead as you really want to avoid a base with any sort of fabric on it.

I hope this helps but if you have any further queries please don't hesitate to contact our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
