Which type of bed base is best for my 'Emma' boxed foam mattress?

Hi Margaret,

Thanks for getting in touch about your Emma mattress. The Emma mattress is a boxed and rolled foam mattress. The most popular Emma mattress is the original which features layers of synthetic castellated foam and is one-sided (meaning you only ever sleep on one side and can't turn it over).

You can use any quality mattress base with this type of mattress with the exception of slatted bases.

The reason for this is that slatted bases have gaps between the slats and memory foam mattresses such as Emma, Simba, Eve and Casper can conform to these gaps. Leading to lumps and bumps over time. You can board over the slats to prevent this and we also advise using an old duvet with any slatted bases so avoid the slats nicking or tearing your mattress. In particular wooden slats.

Probably the best type of base is a platform divan as these are the most consistent and can be made with a variety of drawers too for storage.

We hope that helps and if you have any further questions please get back in touch on 0161 437 4419.

All the best
John & Ryan
