Many thanks for your comment. I'm so sorry to hear that you're struggling with these unsuitable mattresses in your new motorhome. I can empathise completely as I too am a motorhome owner and know just how much research and attention to detail goes into finding the perfect 'mohome'.

The bed shapes you refer to are known as French beds where one of the corners is sliced off to allow easier access to the mattress, save climbing over each other.

The difficulty with caravan and motorhome beds is the depth and weight. Due to the fact that these beds are either being lifted up each day out the way or the fact that motorhomes are subject to stringent weight restrictions, every kg counts. That is why 99% of motorhome mattresses are cheap foam ones. They are light, easy to cut and lift. However, not so comfortable for a decent nights sleep unless you like firm as a brick beds.

Let's discuss what may be happening with your two Millbrook mattresses. It sounds from the description very much like either the wrong spring tension has been used, maybe a 1.2 gauge soft spring (totally unsuitable for your bodyweight), micro springs are being used (to keep its depth so low at 20cm) and or there's no perimeter support to the spring unit which stops such roll offs.

Perimeter support is used in all quality mattresses to stop roll off and prevent the edge of the bed feeling overly soft compared to say the centre. It's essential in all mattresses and in particular smaller sizes where you're closer to the edge and edges.

I would ask Millbrook or Marine beds what spring tension is being used if it's less than 1.4 it is not fit for purpose unless you're a sleeper under 8 stone. See the spring tension guide below.

I'm also surprised why they are using foam perimeter edging with pocket springs? This makes no sense and is not the normal method of supporting pocket springs. This leads me to think they are using the dreaded micro springs, more on those here. We never use them. Pocket spring mattresses should always have a metal perimeter bar with a single row of firmer springs connected to this to stop roll-off. Usually a 1.6 gauge pocket spring.

We can make a mattress to any size no problem and do so for many customers. However due to the depth issue, we can't currently offer motorhome mattresses as our mattresses are anywhere between 27cm and 33cm deep, they are also really heavy given all the natural fibres and upholstery that we use.
