Many thanks for your question on your Hypnos Heidi bed and what alternative mattress may be suitable for the slatted base.

Our entire mattress range is all suitable for slatted bases. There are a few tweaks you may want to make though as slatted bases are entry-level bases and there can be a few niggles that they can potentially cause. The first niggle is the gaps between the slats. If its larger than 2 inches we advise boarding over with some cheap MDF or plywood. This then stops the mattress from being forced in between the gaps which over time can damage the mattress.

The second niggle is that wooden slats can often nip and snag the mattress ticking or cover. We advise that if you're not boarding over you should place an old duvet on top of them before the mattress. That way the duvet takes any snags and not your beautifully hand made mattress!

The Origins Pocket 1500 hand made mattress will be fine on this base and will provide the same medium feel as it does on our Origins Divan mattress base. It's suitable in a medium spring tension up to 16 stone per sleeper. It's our most popular model and for good reason given the huge amounts of fillings, it provides compared to competitors as sometimes twice the price! It is a two-sided so can and should be turned each month. It also has a wool top layer for better breathability.
