Many thanks for your question about the foam insulation layer used in our hand made in the UK Origins pocket sprung mattresses. It's a really good one.

The quick answer is yes our foam insulator is Certi-PUR complaint and comes from British Vita here in the UK. So no long imports from factories on the other side of the world. You can find all the accreditation on their website and update technical specifications.

We don't use any memory foam in any of our hand made mattresses. It retains far too much heat, settles at an alarming rate and contains a mix of around 61 chemical to make it.

We only use foam where absolutely necessary from a price point. It's not used in our high-end Artisan mattress range at all so if you want to avoid foam then check out that range.

In the Origins mattress range it is used as a layer to help bridge the gap between the upholstery fibres and the pocket spring system. Also known as the 'mattress insulator' layer.
