Louise

Hi! I recently purchased a mattress from bensons for beds, which unfortunately hasn't worked out for me. Following their 40 night sleep trial, I will swap it for another soon. Currently I am looking at Slumberland ecosolutions 2200 mattress, given that it is turnable. I am wondering: What do you all at John Ryan Ltd make of this particular mattress? Hope I'm not wasting time, if I weren't locked into bensons then I would probably be looking into buying from John Ryan by Design.
Best wishes, Louise

Hi Louise,

Thank you for your question. I have had a look at the Slumberland Eco Solutions 2200 which is from Benson's for Beds. This mattress has 2200 spun bonded pocket springs over 2 tiers. This will give a softer support and a bouncier feel to the mattress. There is not much information given regarding the upholstery layers other than the winter side has a wool layer. Wool wicks away heat and moisture quicker than any other upholstery fibre.

They have given the comfort rating of this mattress based on the spring tension you opt for not the upholstery layers which determine how the mattress feels. Spring tension should be based on your height and weight to give you the correct level of support. The medium spring tension supports body weights up to 17 stone depending on your height and the firm spring will support body weights between 17 stone and 23 stone.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

Our closest comparison in construction to this mattress would be our Artisan Tailored Pocket 2000 which also has 2 tiers of spun bonded pocket springs. This mattress has a medium feel in the upholstery layers which are constructed with 85% natural fibres. Medium upholstery layers are ideal for all sleep positions as they are not too firm for side sleepers nor too soft for those that sleep on their front or back. I can not say if this would have a comparable feel to the upholstery layers within the Slumberland Eco Solutions 2200 as they do not provide any GSM or upholstery information.

Please note that the soft spring tension has been discontinued since the making of the video.

When looking for a new mattress we recommend taking into account how you sleep and how you like the mattress to feel. We do not recommend soft upholstery layers for front and back sleepers as this can cause lower back and neck pain. Likewise, we do not recommend firm upholstery for side sleepers which can cause pressure pains in the shoulders and hips.

I would recommend asking Benson's for Beds for the upholstery and comfort information before deciding to exchange to this mattress to make sure it is going to be comfortable for you as trying a mattress in a showroom that has already been softened by many potential customers for 15 minutes is not long enough to determine if this mattress will be right for you.

Please let us know how you get on and if we can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to contact us on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards
Michaela
