Mattress toppers are applied to provide a softer feel to a mattress, there is not a topper available which will make your mattress feel firmer. The base that you have the mattress on top of will effect the overall feel of the mattress. A sprung Divan will slightly soften the overall feel of a mattress. Our Artisan base offers the option of either a pocket sprung unit or a bonnel coil, in theory both options do the same job, the pocket sprung is the more superior option. If you place a mattress on a sprung slatted base, it will feel slightly firmer than when placed on your sprung divan base. In addition, if the gaps between the slats exceed 3″ we advise that you board over the base using a thin piece of MDF or Plywood. Pegboard can also be used to aid ventilation, though bear in mind the weight of the mattress and what it is resting on. If the base has sprung slats we would advise that the horizontal slats are boarded over. If you place your mattress on top of a platform top divan, like our Contemporary Platform divan, it will firm up the overall feel of the mattress slightly.

The other alternative, may be to look to replace the mattress with a firmer product and sell the Hypnos and recoup some of your money. We have two different pocket sprung ranges, The Origins range is the synthetic fibre range and The Artisan range is the natural fibre pocket sprung range. The springs within a mattress are to support an individuals body weight, the correct spring tension is dictated by an individuals body weight.

I would advise that you look at something with a medium upholstery. The Origins Pocket 1500 is the medium feel model in the Origins range.
