How do I know which matress is right for me?
I have read through your articles and although very useful information I am now completely overwhelmed and have no idea what I should be buying :(
I used to have (what I thought was) a 100% memory foam mattress and although very comfortable it was always too hot for me. Following a flood my bed was ruined, taking the mattress with it. I was housed in temporary accommodation and given hire furniture. This came with a spring mattress which is cheap - and you can tell. You can feel the springs move beneath you with every turn, even with a mattress topper.
I am not a heavy person - I weight less than 8 stone - and have the bed to myself. I use a king mattress and like a softer feel for comfort (and DETEST the feel of springs under me). I am a light sleeper too (think princess and the pea!).
I need to replace both my bed and mattress and am so confused as to what I should get. Can you help?
Hi Katherine,
I note that you have indicated that you detest the feel of springs under you and would suggest that this is because the sprung mattress you have is, as you say, a cheap one.
A good quality pocket sprung mattress should have sufficient upholstery to prevent you feeling any discomfort from the springs.
Bodyweight | Spring tension |
---|---|
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg | Medium (1.4mm) |
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards | Firm (1.6mm) |
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) | Soft (1.2mm) |
Your particular body weight dictates that you should look for a soft spring tension with softer upholstery layers.
The selection is dependent upon budget and I would suggest that you view the Origins Comfort 1000, which will provide an overall soft feel or, if your budget permits, the Artisan Naturals which can be selected with a soft spring tension and has 85% natural upholstery layers.
Both these products are pocket sprung, but neither should result in you feeling the springs when lying on them.
I trust that this helps, but if you require any further guidance or advice, please call our office.
Kind Regards Gary
