Best mattress to absorb movement

Lia Maxwell

Hello,
My husband has Periodic Limb Movement Disorder - which is like restless legs - but can involve all parts of the body and can cause shaking movement every 20 to 40 seconds over a period of hours. When we are on holiday and sleep in beds with two separate mattresses - some zipped, some not- I find I am far less bothered by his movement. So I have been looking for zip link beds. I have also been told that any proper pocket sprung mattress should absorb his movement, and I don't need separate mattresses. He gets quite hot while asleep, and this sometimes worsens his condition. Can you make some recommendations for us? We are both 5 foot 4 and not overweight. Any information is greatly appreciated.
Many Thanks,
Lia Maxwell

Hi Lia

Thank you for your question.

A good pocket spring unit will cut down a lot of movement in a mattress, but if someone is very restless, and disturbs the other sleeper, then a zip link mattress is the most you can do, to cut down on that transference of movement.

If your husband is a very warm sleeper, then you need to have a mattress with natural fibre fillings, as these create the coolest beds.

I would recommend that you take a look at the Artisan Naturals or Artisan Bespoke 004 in our ranges, these have a nice medium feel in the comfort layers, not too soft or too firm.

You do not mention your body weights, so you would need to decide upon your spring tension.

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

If you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419 where our Advisors will be able to assist you further.

Kind Regards Julie
