Hi John
I would like to know what the key differences between the Salus CONTEMPO LV3000 and the Breasley Icon Solutions 3000 mattress, I have tried the Icon Solutions 3000 at Carpetright and found it very comfortable, then checked against the Salus equivalant and would appreciate your thoughts on which one would be the better buy.
Thanks
Ken

Hi Ken,

Thank you for your enquiry.

As you may be aware, the published details of each of the products you refer to in terms of construction and upholstery are vague and on that basis it is impossible to provide an opinion as to which might be the better or best value for money.

In addition, without details of your particular body weight(s) we cannot advise if either would suit. Below are our own guidelines for spring tension vs body weight;

Bodyweight Spring tension
Upto 16 Stone / 50-101kg Medium (1.4mm)
16 Stone / 101kg Upwards Firm (1.6mm)
Available in Bespoke Products (Please Call) Soft (1.2mm)

We are also unsure as to how you have compared these products as being equivalent to each other as the only similarities seem to be the spring count and pillow top. Because of the limited information available in respect of each of the products you refer to, we are not able to provide a comparison within our ranges.

What we can say is that the Salus product has latex as a constituent layer, which appears is contained within a pillow top section of that mattress and we would always advise to avoid these for the reasons detailed in the link.

The Icon clearly has a defined pillow top and you will note from the article attached that this type of mattress is not recommended. Both products suggest that in a standard king size they contain 3000 pocket springs. For people of average body weights, (10-16 stones) 1000 springs in a king size are sufficient to provide the support required and the inclusion of 3 times this amount in both these products raises alarm bells as, in general,  the more springs there are the less comfort layers or upholstery there is.

If you are looking for a latex mattress, please view the products in our Fusion range.

We trust that the above is of help, but if you require any further assistance or guidance in respect of our products, please call our office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Lee.
