A customer asked

I am a post menopausal Brit living in Southern Spain. Therefore the challenges of choosing a new bed/mattress are many. I am 81/2 st, husband just over 11st wet. I get hot all the time, summer here in the 40'sC. We both think we like something softish to lie on, definitely not 'orthopaedic', but we also have bad backs. Both at the Osteopath currently... We currently have a 5ft Vi-spring which has a permanent hump in the middle because husband does not want a hernia turning mattress over. What we want is a 6 - 6.6 zip and link for ease of turning but need advice on what sort and you guys seem to be the ones to ask.

Hi Elaine,

Thanks for your question.

Natural fibre filled mattresses, do create the coolest sleep environment.

If you like the comfort feel of your current Vi spring mattress, I would say have a look at the Artisan range of mattresses, which have comparable models in construction and feel, to certain models in the Vi spring range.

The softest upholstered model we have is the Artisan Luxury, this in a medium tension spring, at your current body weights, will give you both a firmer support level within the mattress. This will help with your bad backs, but with the added benefit of soft top layers to lie in, that you prefer.

The Zip and Link mattress option will be ideal, cutting the mattress weight in half, when it is time to turn your mattress over.

I hope this helps but if you require any further assistance please call the office on 0161 437 4419.

Kind Regards, Gary
